Yesterday's evening Atim was hosting a Raya open house for her family and friends (actually kinda stevenians only). The open house started at 4.00pm. Sureen and i arrived around 5.30pm due to the traffic. Some of Stevenians have already been there. it was really nice catching up since some of us havent seen each other for quite a while.
The conversation moved from one topic to another and finally the topic of career appeared. Each one of us explained what are we currently do....the conversations went on and on....and we also attracted some extended audiences from other guests.
One things that i notice, after 3 years people are starting to think about finding a new job. Some people cant even bare the thought of being with the same company for more than 3 years. My sister once told me that as long as you are working with other people/company, the problems will always be the same. i couldnt agree more.
So why people are leaving their job and looking for a new one, just to have the same cycle of problems? Is it because of the way Gen Y was raised? Some people say that Gen Y is not loyal. Looking at the rate of most of my friends moving from one job to another, it might make sense.
One thing that we learn from the previous generation is the fact that there's no point of being loyal to a company when apparently you are always replaceable by the company.
When it come to the topic of work, i always appreciate and love the fact how it helped me to grow and understand my potential for the last 3 years. however, being a generation Y, i believed that it is better to leave when there's still love.
