2011 - 35 : The Invitation

one day,a few years ago, while my mom was segregating wedding invitation card that she got, this conversation took place;

mom : i have 6 weddings to go tomorrow.
me : that's a lot. do you really have to go all six weddings? i dont think that you can afford to eat that much.
mom : it's not about the food. it's about their intention. inviting people is a choice. but once you are invited, it is your obligation to go.
me : owhhh....*6 is still a lot*

my first wedding invitation was in 2008. i received an invitation card in my mailbox. i was sooo flattered because i never got a wedding invitation card with my name on it. i make it to the wedding which was 500 km away.

not long after that, a friend of mine was hosting a bbq party. during the party, she distributed the card and i made it to the wedding which was about 1 hour drive.

after a while, i started to get wedding invitation card from my collegues. i didnt make it to most the wedding. i also got a few phone messages from my friends asking for my address to mail the invitation card. i got the card but i only manages to go to a few.

a new trend start, people start to invite all their fb contact via fb event invitation with a little note saying if you want a personal card, give me your address. and i never gave my address to open invitation. why? i'm not sure whether it is an invitation or just to inform.

when i look at all the wedding invitation cards that i personally received, i started to see intention, thought and hope. people put you in the list of the people to be invited, it should mean stg. they think about you. want you to be presented at their wedding. yet, how come i dont feel obligated to go. if only i could turn back time, i'll put more afford to go to all the invitation.

it's not the food or fancy card...it's the thought that matter.
